How the Global Grade Converter Works
Applying abroad means your marks have to speak a new language. A student with an 8.5 CGPA in India, a 3.6 GPA in the US and a 1.7 in Germany may all be equally strong — but each country reads the number differently. This global grade converter normalises whatever you enter into a percentage, then translates it into the US 4.0 GPA, Indian percentage & classification, the German Bavarian scale, UK Honours, the Australian 7.0 scale and the Canadian GPA.
CGPA to percentage (and CGPA to GPA)

The Modified Bavarian Formula (India → Germany)
German universities grade on a 1.0–5.0 scale where 1.0 is the best and anything below a pass is 5.0. Most German admissions offices use the Modified Bavarian Formula. This tool uses the simplified, widely-quoted version:
German Grade = 1 + (100 − Percentage) ÷ 20
That gives clean anchor points: 100% → 1.0, 80% → 2.0, 60% → 3.0 and 40% → 4.0. It's the single most-searched and least-served conversion for Indian students heading to Germany — and it's built right in.
UK, Australia & Canada
The UK uses Honours classifications: First (≥70%), Upper Second 2:1 (60–69%), Lower Second 2:2 (50–59%) and Third (40–49%). Australia commonly uses a 7.0 scale (7 = High Distinction), while Canada mirrors the US 4.0 GPA but with slightly higher percentage bands. All of these are computed from the same normalised percentage so your results stay consistent.
Why conversions are only approximate
No official global standard exists. WES, IQAS, universities and employers each publish their own tables, and some evaluate course-by-course rather than on an overall average.
